First of all, congratulations on your sweet new baby! Who knew love could fill you up so full, right? I'm honored to capture these precious first weeks with your newest addition.

I like to take lifestyle photographs of your family and your new one. This means we typically don't bend and mold your sleeping newborn, but capture real moments: that sweet stretch, a big yawn, daddy's hands and baby's wide open guileless eyes.

I know your life is full of love right now - but also worry and stress and definitely NOT sleep - so worrying about photos should not even be on the list! Knowing what to expect can help. Reading through this section can help you be a little more prepared, and maybe a little more relaxed. I promise, it won't hurt a bit!

  • timing is everything

    • The ideal time to take your baby's newborn pictures is when they're less than two weeks old - within the first week or so of life is best - so contact us and let us know your due date and we will pencil in a plan. Once your bundle of joy arrives, just let us know and we will firm up the date.

  • location location location

    • I really love to capture these first few days of your new family where the magic happens - in your home! I know you've just come home with a new baby, and trust me, I know how life altering that is, so please PLEASE do not stress about a perfectly clean or perfectly styled house. I promise I no one will know about that pile of laundry or the dishes in the sink.

  • ma said make your bed

    • One of the sweetest spots for some new family photos is your bed! If this is something that appeals to you, here are a few tips: make your bed (just this one time...) with a solid blanket or comforter (preferably white or light cream). If you need a loaner I have plenty!

  • the more the merrier

    • I'd love to capture siblings or fur babies in your photos too! This is something we'll do at the beginning of our session. When we're done with family photos, this is the perfect time for a snack break for baby, and for the kids to go play... so we can focus the rest of our shoot on your little bundle of joy.

  • let the sun shine

    • Before our session, please open all your drapes and blinds so we can find the best natural light in the house. I may move some of your furniture around to suit us, but don't worry, I'll put it all back!

  • keep it toasty

    • Since we're going to be uncovering your sweet babe for pictures, consider bumping your thermostat a bit, so we can minimize the shock of all that fresh air.

  • feed me

    • A full tummy makes for a happy baby! Please try to feed your little one about 30 minutes before our session.  If you're breastfeeding, you may have to provide frequent snack breaks... Your little one's schedule might be a bit off the day of our shoot, but it will be worth it!

  • loosen up

    • About 30 minutes before our session, loosen baby's diaper and clothes (keep 'em on though! ;). We want to give those lines on baby's skin some time to disappear.

  • relax

    • Just try to take some deep breaths, and let go for a bit. Babies can sense and respond to your anxiety, so do your best to project that calm I know you've got in there. I'm used to babies, and everything that comes along with them, truly. We will get some beautiful pictures at our session.

  • get in there

    • I know you may not be feeling quite like yourself yet, or think you want to be in any photos. But these moments don't come around again, and they're so fleeting. The shots we capture of you and your child will be precious to you - you'll be so glad you got in the frame.
