Being in front of the camera is stressful; knowing what to expect can help. Reading through this section can help you be a little more prepared, and maybe a little more relaxed. I promise, it won't hurt a bit!
-
be flexible
-
We will have a plan in mind at the start of the session, but keep an open mind - we may find the light doesn't work as well here, or find a perfect spot a couple blocks away.
-
-
bring a laughing buddy
-
I strongly encourage you to bring a best friend (or parent) you're comfortable with, who can make you laugh, and can help with those last minute hair repairs
-
-
change clothes and go
-
Make sure your outfit(s) are comfortable and make you feel good - and like yourself! If you're changing outfits, consider: one casual, one dressy, one that suits just you, and if applicable a uniform (ie baseball, dance etc).
-
-
what not to wear
-
Avoid logo shirts, tennis shoes and bright white or neon clothes. Take a look at our what do i wear??? page for more tips.
-

-
check the clock
-
Please arrive to your session at least 15 minutes early - this gives you time for parking, last minute outfit adjustments and the inevitable hair repairs.
-
-
sometimes you should just stay home
-
If you are sick, please let me know as soon as possible and we can reschedule, no problem.
-
-
take a deep breath
-
I know it's hard, but just try and relax, take a deep breath, and trust the process.
-
-
weather report
-
We will reschedule your outdoor session if it is raining, below 40 degrees, or very overcast. I will be watching the weather closely, but don't give up too soon - Midwest weather changes on a dime.
-
-
pack a bag
-
Bring your outfits (on hangers), make-up for touch ups, water, and comfortable shoes.
